Godrevy
A small westerly facing sandy beach just north of the larger Gwithian Beach. The beach is tucked just on the inside of a rocky outcrop so can be relatively sheltered from the swell. Extreme care must be taken on Spring tides as a fierce tidal race runs between Godrevy Head and Godrevy Lighthouse on the ebb and flow. It is recommended that only experienced paddlers venturing past the rocky outcrop in such conditions. When it is calm and safe to do so you can paddle around Godrvey Lighthouse and watch the large population of resident seals. They can be over friendly, follow the kayak and pop up beside you when you least expect it so watch out!
Parking: A large national trust car park is open during the summer months in a field above the beach. There are a set of steps down to the beach that requires two people to get the kayak down and back up. When the field is closed off-season you can park approx. 200m away from the steps in a small number of parking bays alongside the road.
Species: Bass and the odd Pollack to trolled lures over extensive areas of the broken ground and reefs around the lighthouse. Plaice may show over the clean ground to drift fished baits. Small-Eyed Ray are a possibility if anchored over the clean ground. Big Bull Huss and the usual Dogfish could show to fish baits when anchored over the broken ground.
Nearest Tackle Shops: Anglers Den at Hayle and County Angler at Truro
Swell and Weather Forecast: Magic Seaweed Godrevy (see below)
