Carbis Bay
A sandy beach in the inside of St Ives Bay. Shallow clean ground predominates, deeper sand can be found further offshore. Carbis Bay tends to be well protected from swell so is usually safe for launching even if other venues in the area are wiped out by the swell. It also tends to be out of the worst of the strong tidal flow that runs between St Ives Island and Godrevy. The beach is very popular with beach-goers in the summer months - get there early morning or in the evening to get parking.
Parking: A pay and display is located at the top of the beach. The waters edge is approx. 50m from the car park. A beach shop and cafe are open in season.
Species: Plaice, Dabs, Tub Gurnards and Whiting to drift fished baits. Mackerel and Garfish in season. Possible Small Eyed Ray and dogfish if anchored. Cod, Bass and Gilthead Bream also a possibility.
