Places to Launch a Kayak and Kayak Fish - North Cornwall

Exposed to the full force of the Atlantic, the North Cornwall coast is lined with steep rugged cliffs and wide sandy beaches. It is not often that the swell is small enough (below 3ft) to allow for safe fishing on the north coast. The North coast is therefore far more dangerous to kayak fish from than the more sheltered South Coast. The beaches provide good launch venues but require very little (less than 2ft) or no swell for safe launching and landing. When conditions allow for a launch, the North Coast offers large expanses of deep broken ground, reefs and large patches of clean sand to fish over. Extreme caution must be taken when kayak fishing the North Coast, especially from beaches - rogue swells, fast tidal currents and shore breaks are common so it is recommended that only experienced kayak anglers or those who are familiar with the north coast sea conditions launch from the north coast beaches. The South Coast offers much safer fishing for the less experienced kayak angler.

North Cornwall Kayak Launch Venues

I must stress that i have not been to or launched from all of these places so detailed information on the best conditions and expected species cannot be given in all cases. Most of these venues i know have been fished by kayak fisherman. The list provides a starting point to go and explore these venues but it is up to you to decide whether or not conditions are safe enough to allow you to safely launch, paddle, fish and land back at the venue. Take the time to consult with weather forecasts, swell forecasts and tidal conditions before venturing out.
