Looe

Looe is a town located at the mouth of the Looe River. Launching gives good access to the upper Looe river and to the open coast around Looe Island. Launching is possible from several places in the town. Millpool car park slipway gives good access to the river Looe, a small slipway on Quay Road, West Looe gives good sheltered access to the open sea and kayaks can also be launched from several points along Hannafore Point at higher states of tide giving access to Looe Island. The Looe River is tidal so a paddle up river is best timed with an incoming tide. The river is muddy, clean ground can be found out to the east of the river mouth with broken and rough ground found around Looe Island.

Parking: A large council run long-stay car park is located at Millpool to the north of the town. Launching is possible via a small slipway at the eastern end of the car park. A few pay and display parking spaces can be found on Quay Road adjacent to the small slipway into the harbour/river. Roadside parking is available along Hannafore Point.

Species: Good flounder fishing can be had to drift fished worm baits. Bass, Gilthead Bream and Thick Lipped Mullet are also possible in the river. Pollack, Wrasse and Big bass are possible around Looe Island. Mackerel and Garfish can be caught in season.
