Porthkerris
Porthkerris is a privately owned beach and dive centre. The pebble beach is usually well sheltered. Clean ground predominates although some rough ground can be found around Drawna Rocks and Pencra Point either side of the beach. Launching is easy from the beach and is a reasonably safe location for newcomers to kayak fishing. The dive shop sells some small items of fishing tackle. It is possible to paddle South to the Manacles from Porthkerris if conditions are calm enough.
Parking: £2 a day, to be paid at the dive shop at the top of the beach. You can park on the beach itself. Access to the water is very easy.
Species: Mackerel are very prolific off Drawna rocks during the spring and summer. Garfish can be caught float fishing. Scad and Herring are sometimes caught on summer evenings. Plaice, Gurnards and the occasional Codling can be caught to drift fished baits. Wrasse and Pollack will show over any patches of rough ground. Bull Huss and Conger are a possibility if fishing at anchor over or near rough ground.
Nearest Tackle Shops: Terminal Tackle at Penryn and Last Stop Tackle Shop at The Lizard
