St. Agnes

St Agnes is home to a a small sandy north facing beach known as Trevaunance Cove. Launching is only safe in very low swell and only recommended for the experienced paddler. Access to the cove is via a steep concrete slope and would realistically only be possible with two people helping each other up and down. The car park is located a further 200m uphill so this launch site is only for the determined! Launching at Trevaunance Cove provides good access to mixed ground around Newdowns Head and St Agnes Head but beware of strong tidal flows on mid to spring tides.

Parking: A small council run long-stay car park is located approx. 200m uphill of the launch site. Check Cornwall County Council website for the latest parking charges.

Species: An extensive area of broken ground runs between Cligga Head, St Agnes Head and Bawden Rocks located approx. 1.5 nautical miles from the beach. This ground will produce Bass, Pollack and Wrasse to lures. Anchoring may produce good sized Bull Huss and the occasional Conger. Clean ground further offshore will produce Gurnards, Codling, Whiting and Pouting to baits. The odd Tope and Smooth hound may show ever the clean ground closer in.

Nearest Tackle Shops: County Angler at Truro, Atlantic Angling Centre at Newquay and Sling Your Hook at Newquay
