Report of the Swanage Classic Kayak Competition 2019

Swanage was calling. The annual species hunt competition attracts anglers from across the country with an impressive prize table up for grabs. I love fishing this venue. The Ray and Bream fishing can be excellent and i couldn't wait to get a bait in the water!

It was time for the 2018 Swanage Classic. The forecast was looking to be fantastic for once and i had 3 days to spend on the water. The fishing was great on the days leading up to the competition and i managed several new PBs. The competition proved a little more difficult but i just managed to sneak into the top 10....

The Swanage Classic 2017

It was time for the annual pilgrimage to the lovely seaside town of Swanage in Dorset, to fish the Swanage Classic 2017. A superb kayak fishing competition attracting many competitors from across the country, all hoping to catch lots of species and win the grand prize of a Hobie Revolution 16. I had other targets though... I wanted to catch Undulate Ray and Baillons Wrasse!

Oxwich Bay Kayak Championships 2016

It was that time again - the Oxwich Bay European Saltwater Championships 2016. I had 4 days booked off work and the weather was looking great. This event regularly attracts well over 100 kayak anglers, many camping for the weekend and fishing on the days either side of the competition. All was set for a fun weekend!

Next up in the kayak fishing events calendar for me is the Ocean Kayak Classic competition held in Plymouth in aid of Heroes on the Water. Last year i had spent a few days fishing the venue prior to the competition but this year i couldn't find the time so i had my fingers crossed i would be able to find some fish on the day....

Swanage Classic Competition 2016

The Swanage Classic kayak fishing competition is one of the highlights of the kayak fishing events calendar. Loads of kayak anglers all spending several days camping and fishing together at a great venue with plenty of species to target. I done well last year and placed 2nd. This year i had put aside 4 days to fish at Swanage so after sorting bits of gear out over several weeks it was time to drive up to Swanage for a long weekend of kayak fishing!.

Kayak Anglers Choice Awards

Oxwich Bay Kayak Fishing Competition 2015

Its the big one.... The Oxwich Bay Kayak Fishing European Championships held by South Wales Kayak Anglers (SWKA). One problem - i could only be there for competition day so no practice sessions at a new venue. It didn't matter i would still give it a go!

The next big competition of the year had arrived - the Ocean Kayak Classic, a catch, photo and release competition held in Plymouth. The competition had been on the cards for months and Kieren would be coming up to fish it too. I had been for a couple of exploratory sessions a few weeks before but the venue was still largely unknown. Would we come away with any prizes?

I had been planning to fish the Swanage Classic kayak fishing competition for several months. Not only would it be my first kayak fishing competition, it is also held at a venue which throws up a few species that i really wanted to catch. This was going to be an interesting weekend.......

Kayak Wars 2013 Results

The 2013 Kayak Wars competition started on the 1st of February and ended on the 14th of December. It was the first year that European kayak anglers could submit teams and compete in the Kayak Wars. I formed a team comprising of Elliot, Kieren and myself under the name of West Cornwall Kayakers!
